Today’s expectant moms are more knowledgeable than ever and they want to deliver at a hospital that provides options for childbirth, as well as a high level of care and comfort. The Birth Place offers comprehensive services for new moms and infants. Our family-friendly birthing options and comfortable, home-like rooms are designed to create the environment that new families desire to help make their special birth the experience of a lifetime. After delivery, the nurses provide couplet care which means the same nurse caring for your post partum needs will also care for your newborn. The Birth Place staff is committed to caring for families in a relaxed, private and supportive environment. From the smallest premature newborn to the healthy full-term baby, we’re prepared- even when you’re not.

NICU

Everyone plans for the day that their child will be born, but not everyone plans on the possibility that they may need to use the services of the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). While the vast majority of infants are born healthy and without complications, sometimes special care is needed. For those situations, the on-site NICU at Parkridge East is available to provide the needed care and to keep the mother and baby in the same facility. Our Level IIb NICU is staffed with newborn specialists and neonatologists and is available to offer around-the-clock care for high-risk babies. Classes & Support Groups

Many educational and support programs are available to help moms and dads prepare for their new arrival. The educational programs at The Birth Place include Baby Basics, Prepared Childbirth, Infant CPR, Breastfeeding and Boot Camp for Dads.

The Birth Place at Parkridge East also features a Lactation Center, staffed with board certified Lactation Consultants to help guide you through the entire breastfeeding experience. We offer support for breastfeeding mothers through free, unlimited inpatient visits, follow-up care after you go home and an ongoing support group. A Lactation Membership gives you one-on-one time with the Lactation Consultant for any special needs, problems or concerns. We do free bra fittings and sell Medela nursing products, including bras, pumps and accessories. We are also a Medela rental station, carrying their hospital grade pumps and scales.
